As mother of five (including two sets of twins) my life is all about my family. I will do anything for them, but after becoming a personal fitness trainer, I realize it is important to understand my personal health is a vital part of being the person I want to be. At one point in my life, my health was taking the backseat to the everyday needs of my loved ones. In the summer of 2009, I looked in the mirror and I did not recognize the person I saw.  I was taking cholesterol medication and felt 65 instead of my actual age of 45. Right then I knew it was time to start taking care of myself because my life, my health, and my ability to be there for my family was at risk.

I tried local gyms and various
exercise classes, along with almost every type of diet program, all of which yielded only temporary success. To try something new, decided to try hiring a personal fitness trainer to assist me in developing a personal fitness plan. I had a great personal fitness trainer and faithfully trained three days a week. After my first six weeks, I only lost one pound and five inches over my entire body. I was disappointed, but I realized the accountability for my results lay on my own shoulders. I decided to add cardio-routines to the days I did not see my personal fitness trainer and also kept a journal of my nutrition.

By creating a comprehensive personal fitness plan and strong motivation from my personal fitness trainer, I lost 45 pounds, lowered my body fat by more than 10% and lost 35 inches over my entire body. I could even stop taking my cholesterol medication! I felt happy, healthy and confident. I had finally achieved a healthier lifestyle. It was the best I have ever felt! The experience was so empowering I decided to participate in my first 5k run; at the age of 46!

I truly believe everyone can obtain their goals through the motivation of a personal fitness plan and an exercise instructor. It can be difficult to remain consistently motivated on your own. The benefits of having someone who is experienced assist you in developing a personal fitness plan for a healthier lifestyle are unparalleled. My passion for fitness is so strong I decided to personally become a personal fitness trainer. Having obtained my own goals and my certification as an personal fitness trainer, I now help others develop, achieve, and maintain a healthier lifestyle. If there is one thing I’ve learned from my experience, it is that it is never too late to create a personal fitness plan and start taking care of yourself!
